Husband and wife die in crash caused by alleged drunk driver

People in Brevard County and across Florida need to be aware of the dangers that can lead to a fatal accident. These accidents can happen at work, when driving, when riding as a passenger, as a pedestrian and in numerous other situations. A common way in which a wrongful death occurs is in motor vehicle accidents. Many of these incidents occur as the result of the carelessness of another person. This is the case when a drunk driver causes a fatal car crash.

A husband and wife were killed recently when an allegedly drunk driver crashed into their vehicle as they returned home from a holiday celebration. The 64-year-old man and 53-year-old woman were hit by a 31-year-old man driving a Porsche. According to the investigation, the Porsche was speeding at greater than 100 mph right before the accident happened. When the driver was arrested, he was found to have a blood alcohol content above the legal limit of 0.08 percent. He was charged with DWI manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident and other charges. The deceased couple had been married for more than 17 years.

When there is a fatal accident, there will be much for the family left behind to contend with. There will be funeral expenses and the emotional upheaval that comes with an untimely and unexpected death. However, there are often other issues that arise. If those who died were relied upon for financial support or other important contributions, their absence will be felt significantly. Family members left behind might not know how they're going to make ends meet. When there is a fatal car crash, it's important that a full investigation be conducted with the victims in mind in the event that the family would like to consider litigation.

In this incident, a driver is under arrest for drunk driving and numerous other charges linked to the fatal accident that claimed the lives of two people. While financial compensation won't bring them back, it can provide assistance to their family members in moving forward. Brevard County attorneys with experience in wrongful death cases can help grieving families understand how the process works.
